Day
1: BC Spa Manicure Instant Manicure
Hello Spa Friends and welcome to Day
1!
As we get to know each other over
these next few hundred days or so, you will learn that the list of
BeautiControl (BC) products that I love is almost never-ending.
Basically because they're all awesome. And since none of you have
really had a chance to read or comment on the intro (I know, 12 hours
isn't exactly planning ahead!), I was left to decide for myself where
to start.
When I do spa parties for clients,
we always start with some form of the Instant Manicure (classic,
scented, on-the-go, or combinations of these). At the Ottawa National
Women's Show, we demo and sell some form of Instant Manicure. This
year, I had ladies walk up asking if we were the “hand scrubby
people.” Ummm...yes? Not exactly how I like to define myself
(really, I prefer charming, cute, enthusiastic, beautiful, smart,
professional, sentimental, or quirky over hand scrubby person). And
for the record I don't scrub anyone's hands, you will have to do that
one yourself. But I can't deny that our #1 selling product is often
how people will define BeautiControl, and for years this
award-winning product has been a top seller.
“Why?” you ask. Because I have
yet to meet a woman who hates feeling like she's been pampered at an
expensive salon, but didn't need to waste her precious time or money
to do it. Literally, I have seen women swoon over this product.
The Instant Manicure makes your
hands feel soft because it is exfoliating with the Dead Sea salts,
taking away the layers of dead skin on the surface (gross, right?).
Basically, if you can see dry skin anywhere on your body, it's beyond
dry: that, my friends, is some very dead skin that needs to be given
the boot so that you can look and feel great! The best way to do this
is with a physical exfoliant (something that feels rough/scrubby).
Once you take away the gross stuff, you want to make sure that the
beautiful soft-feeling skin underneath stays that way for as long as
possible. Hence, essential oils. Besides the fact that they smell
DEEEEE-VINE (I'm a big fan of anything minty. The minty-er, the
better!), these are going to help moisturize that baby-soft skin.
On the topic of mint, I have heard
this “classic” (read: the normal/original) Instant Manicure
described as citrus/peppermint. Maybe to explain why it's orange? To
be honest I have no idea why it's orange, and even though I've
repeated this citrus/peppermint mistake myself, I would like to
official revoke this description. There is nothing citrus-y about it.
Basically, it is a heavenly layer on layer of glorious minty love.
Remember when I said I'm a big fan of anything minty? That might have
been an understatement.
Complaints? Sometimes, clients
complain that their hands feel greasy after. I've done this to myself
a few times so who am I to judge?! The solution is this: either you
used too much and you need to rinse more, OR the water you rinsed
with wasn't warm enough. Or a combination of both. I find that with
cold or lukewarm water, I don't get a proper rinse and the result is
a greasy feeling. But since I've used it so many times, I know the
tool is only as good as the one using it. And yes, I just called
myself a tool. Don't lie, you've had those days too. The point is,
it's not the product's fault; try it again! If that still doesn't
help, then try washing them with soap. You won't undo all the
exfoliating, you will just wash away some of the extra oil that your
skin isn't absorbing. Interesting enough, it could be because your
hands are TOO dry. If they're not used to absorbing moisture, then
they might “forget” how. (As you can tell, this is really
technical on my part. If you want the science behind why this
happens, I'm sure Google would love to help you find the answer). No
need to fret, some hand cream and repeated use will help you solve
this problem in no time at all!
Tips & Tricks? My all-time
favourite trick for this product is to use it for shaving! That's
right, no more fighting with the shaving cream, or being caught
off-guard when it runs out. And DEFINITELY no more rust stains from
the bottom of a can! Here's how it works: scrub the area to be shaved
with the Instant Manicure, and rinse away the salts. As you know, the
oil will be left behind. Take your razor, and shave away the oil.
Ta-dah! You have exfoliated and shaved all in one step, no need for
multiple products (or gross scents – just pick one you like and
stick with it!). Plus, because you exfoliated first, your skin will
be super soft, and you will get a closer shave so you won't actually
have to shave as often. You're welcome.
As will be routine, below is a “fact
sheet” for today's featured product. If you have any questions,
suggestions, requests, or other tips & tricks for the CLASSIC
Instant Manicure, please leave them below!
(Note for current clients &
consultants: this feature is only for the CLASSIC Instant Manicure.
Other varieties will have their own chance to shine in future posts,
no need to steal this one's thunder!)
