DAY 7: BC MAN RENEWING FACE WASH
I know that today's product may seem like a strange choice, since it's hard to write about a product you've never tried. Well, true. But who says I didn't try it? I know, I know, with my One-True-Love of my SPA Facial set, why would I ever use the men's wash? Let me tell you, it certainly wasn't so that I could broadcast it here!
It all started with my last spa before the holidays. I was so excited to be "done working" (HAHAHAHA as if you can stay home all day and NOT work...PLEASE!). Anyways, like I was saying, I was excited to finish my last spa before my birthday and Christmas (the 2 most important holidays of the year, obviously! You didn't think I meant New Years, did you??? That's too bad, but we can still be friends). It was the second week of December (which was an unusually frigid time of year for us this year - and that's saying something considering I live in a city that laughs when we're told back-to-back snow storms are coming!), and it was a Monday night, both of which meant that I was particularly lazy/tired (I guess that depends if my husband or I is telling this story), so all of my products stayed in the car rather than making several trips back & forth between the parking lot & my condo. Those stairs can be particularly treacherous when it's freezing, I didn't want to slip & fall only to be stuck out there overnight where nobody was going to find me!!! (Besides the friendly drug dealer next door. I also didn't want to be outside long enough to get high on the fumes wafting in our direction. I swear I don't live in the ghetto, but sometimes I wonder...).
With this monumental decision behind me, I made the one-way trek to my roasty-toasty home (hahaha this is another joke, my husband keeps it at MAX 21C, but overnight the temperature has been known to dip to 19C. By choice. I won't translate that to Farenheit at the risk of giving my American friends a heart attack). Once inside and in-layered, I realised that I had left my cleansing gel and exfoliating polish in the car. I had run out of my samples & rather than open new ones for the one party, I just grabbed my own quickly on the way out the door. WELL! What's a girl to do? Re-layer & make the trek back to the parking lot? Not wash my face? (What?!?! Did I really just suggest this?!?! Obviously it was cold, and 11pm. Ugh. Gross!) Use hand soap? Open a new one? (Joke's on me, I sold them all!!!). So there I was, 11pm, standing in my bathroom wishing I could curl up on the extra-fuzzy mat under the heating vent and sleep, when genius struck: my husband's face wash was right there in the shower, beckoning to me!
Now I know that men can (and usually should!) use the SPA Facial line just like us women. Some consultants say that we make a men's line just because some men refuse to use a product that might be girly. Others say that it's so women know what to give as gifts & it makes it easier. But here's a little something that I learned recently: men are different from women. Mind-blowing, right? I mean any woman with a husband, son, or father can tell you that. So then why do we think our faces and our skin are absolutely the same too? THAT'S what I actually learned: men's faces are actually naturally more oily than women's. In my mind, that was a perfect little tidbit for me and actually helped to make that split-second decision to not be dirty or use hand soap (ugh! My face hurts just thinking about that!). I thought if this product is formulated for extra-oily man face, then surely it can handle the Alberta oil sands that live in my pores. I used it that night, and the next morning (along with the rest of my SPA facial products that were still in my cupboard), before dragging my sorry behind back out to my truck to bring everything inside. Here is what I learned:
1. It smells delicious. Most BC products do, and this is no exception.
2. Same as all BC products, a teensy-tiny bit goes a really long way.
3. It cleans oily skin really well.
4. It should be left for the men to use, get your own face wash ladies!
Really, there's not much else to tell about this one. I have 3 male clients who refuse to go without this product & will tell their wives when it's low so they won't ever have to go without. They can't tell them if they're completely out of milk or eggs, but even a bit low on face wash & there's a national news alert. The other products in the men's line they can take it or leave it, but this one is a must-have for them, and now I understand why. All in all it's an awesome product, and I may try it again in the summer to see how my skin fares (maybe instead of my usual switch to Skinlogics Clear?), but literally it's designed for such a high intensity of oil that it dried out my face after 2 uses. Yep, you heard it here first: no matter how oily your skin is, if you are a woman and it is winter, this is a bad idea!!! Take your lazy bum back outside and get your own!
